The package introductions lure you in as our dazzling bachelors and bachelorettes swoop around the stage as part of the concurrent fashion show, firing up the crowd. The emcees rattle off the details – and then it’s Go Time.
The auctioneer sounds as if he is speaking in tongues as paddles pop up and down in a frenzy. A winner is crowned in just a few minutes time. And then it’s on to the next one.
This year, A Date 2 Remember auctions off 23 date experience packages to benefit our 2013 local charity beneficiaries, City Year Columbus and United Way of Central Ohio. The event is stuffed with activities: a paparazzi photo area, a photo booth for your own private picture posing, a silent auction, and the Taste of Columbus Cocktail Hour which offers food samples from Columbus restaurant all-stars.
But the main event is the auction. A Date 2 Remember has a package for every interest from the arts to The Arnold. So how do you come away with the date experience package that is perfect for your passion?
To get you ready for this weekend, we’re delivering a series of auction tips this week from Larry Woods, who returns to A Date 2 Remember as our auctioneer. Our hope is that when you arrive at The LC early Saturday evening, you will be as prepared as possible for the bidding battles that await.
The first step in getting ready for an auction is to take an honest look at your personal finances.
The value of every package varies – so it’s just a matter of determining what price range is right for you. Factor in some extra money that might be needed to fend off a close competitor and also to account for any additional content that could be added to the package this week. Our Sponsorship Committee is working right up until Saturday to fine tune our roster to offer the best bang for your buck.
